Scaffolding Health and Safety Northland

Taking health and safety seriously is required by law – and we at Summit do. Summit Scaffolding Northland have elected to take their health and safety policies to a higher level than the standard required by law. It’s a difficult task to achieve but part of our company policy and for a Company so well supported by SARNZ (Scaffolding, Access and Rigging New Zealand Inc) and Site Safe NZ it can be as easy as ticking off several boxes.

Summit’s dedication to supplying and installing a superior product which is well above standard requirements confirms their allegiance to the SARNZ Good Practice Guidelines 2016, which they surpass. Being ISO 9001 certified themselves SARNZ’s operational directives are a NZ WorkSafe document (covered under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015) which includes all health and safety requirements for the erection and dismantling of scaffolding in New Zealand.

By carefully understanding the industry prerequisites for health and safety practices ensures our clients that the process and procedures maintained by Summit in the erection of scaffolding, shrinkwap, edge protection and containment are paramount. Our systems allow us the flexibility and capability to supply our customers any access solution to any project in the safest possible manner.

Health and Safety Practices

Due to our excellent training programme and employment contract system Summit has developed a strong team of qualified and certified (National Certificate in Advanced Scaffolding) supervisors.

Our workers are career scaffolders who are certified and qualified above and beyond the required levels. At Summit we also offer training qualifications attainable such as First Aid, MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) and Confined Space certification.

Summit’s policy of high health and safety requirements creates a confidence and allows a trackable follow-on effect. Further assuring our staff and clients is our use of the Acuite Construction Intelligence Programme which monitors our health and safety perfromance and audits all sites on regular basis. This information, once attained, is collated and shared to ensure full transparency of all our practices to all parties involved.

  • At Summit we are committed to achieve compliance with:
  • The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA)
  • The Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995 (HSE Regulations)
  • Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016 (GRWM Regulations)
  • SARNZ Good Practice Guidelines for Scaffolding in New Zealand 2016
  • Health and Safety Handbook

Each scaffolding product and system undergoes rigorous testing and tagging processes regulary. Summit Scaffolding Northland are confident that their choice of gear is fail-proof as required by the WorkSafe Working at Height Scaffolding New Zealand guidelines. These comprise directives laid out by the Safety at Work Act 2015 and the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995 and apply to all scaffolding equipment.
